"Thanks so much for B-A-M last week [seriously the best time I've EVER HAD... I'm still going through withdrawal!] I love you!
Thanks, Maharani!
Love,
Jodi-Todi-Tenkins" -bam 1994

"I just wanted to write....and tell you how much fun I had at bustamunga. Even though the entire party was making fun of me [with the nick-name they gave me]. Thank you so much for inviting me... It was truly one of the best weekends of my life."
Love, Beaver Girl -bam 1996
p.s. I think I might need a new nickname!"

After fussing & snarling over the measley $80 fee of BAM '95, going so far as to complain to the Queen Mother that the party was costing him 'an arm & a leg', Mighty Mouse had a change of heart by the end. He proclaimed: "BAM was fantastic! I'd even have paid $85!"

What is Bust-A-Munga you ask?

To sum it up in a run-on sentence: Imagine a party with 50 super glorious, hand-picked people on a luxury bus, touring around D-town for 9 hours with an endless keg, traveling from one mystery stop to another; all centered around a magnificent theme.

In 1993 I began throwing an annual party called Bust-A-Munga [BAM]. It was in Buffalo ['93, '94, & '95], then New York City ['96, '99 & '00]. Since then I've been on hiatus.... until now!

For those who are neophytes, here's the scoop on what the party is:

Each attendee pays the registration fee ahead of time, and then I make all the plans. You show up on the designated day with one responsibility: to enjoy the festivities!

There is a bus / luxury coach [like a Greyhound]. We enjoy spirits & fun while traveling to mystery stops that are pre-arranged & based upon this year's obscure theme [you have no idea what to expect, therefore making it more exciting!].

The party goes from 3pm to midnight, and everything is all-inclusive [activities at mystery stops, food, drinks, & a final party].

It started out kind of small & basic in 1993... and over time Bust-A-Munga has become more sophisticated; including an annual theme for the festivities [see 'Past Parties' for details & photos].

Previous Themes:

In '96 the theme was 'Politically Incorrect'. We did things like stopping in at a Peep Show in the seedy part of town & went to Wall Street to celebrate the height of capitalism... BAM 2000 happened to coincide with Leonardo DeCaprio’s birthday, so the theme was 'All Things Leo'. We spent the entire day recognizing his accomplishments. The party began with a boat trip around Lower Manhattan to commemorate 'The Titanic', & we also had a full-fledged birthday party [complete with birthday cake, ice cream, party hats, Red Bull / Vodka, & a visit from Leo himself].

Nicknames:

Everyone has a nick-name [like 'Lady McNasty' or 'AssMan' or 'Cheeky Monkey' or 'Big Dog' or 'Snoop Jenny Jen' or 'Nudie Colony Neeti'...]. If you don't have a nick-name, or if the one you're suggesting is totally lame, the bus will help you!

The truth is, people don't even know or learn other bustamungians' birth certificate names. As a matter of fact, when the save-the-date email went out in February, I started getting flooded by friends looking for old friends. But the requests came like this: 'Have you heard from Tunnel Boy? Will he be coming?????'. That sort of thing. And if you can't think of a great name, never fear! As I said above, attendees on the bus are fantastic at coming up with something perfect for you...

Numbers:

In addition, everyone gets a 'number' that corresponds to when payments are turned in [via Pay Pal]. For example, the first person who turns in their money is #1; then #2, and so on and so on.

The better your number is, the more fringe benefits you receive [clout, too!]. Plus, if there's a line for something, you can boot whoever the person[s] is whose number is less prestigious than yours...

How Much Does BAM Cost?

The bottom line is that bustamunga is unique, you don't know what to expect, you're surrounded by many wonderfully cool people who've traveled from places as far as Nashville, San Francisco & Florida...just to meet with, be with, and party with you!

This year's cost is:

*$145/each

There are too many plans to be made and down payments to be given. The earlier you pay, the less stressful & easier the party planning is for me!

Please add:

*$5 if you're paying by credit card; to offset the bank fee

*another $5 if you want to contribute to off-setting carbon emissions from the BAM bus

[see 'Registration' to sign up].

Money Back Guarantee!

There's a core following, but plenty of room for new people. It's first-paid, first-served... OH! And did I tell you about the money-back guarantee? [there is, indeed, a money-back guarantee. I stand behind this party 100%. However, consider yourself warned: if you ask for your money back, you'll never be invited to BAM again]

Where to crash after the festivities:

Also, for anyone coming from faraway places [or those from Michigan who want to relax & spend the night in Detroit after the party], affordable accommodations are being offered at a landmark, historical hotel near the Final Party.

Ta Ta for Now…

Anyway, let me know if you have questions at this time... I'd be honored if you'd join myself, Baby Bridezilla, Princess Fuzzball the P.O.A., The Princess of Popped Korn & Pretty Toes, & Nudie Colony Neeti in D-Town for BAM 2007 on June 16th!

btw: I'm the Queen of the party. I am 'Maharani [queen] Drama Mama'. Who will you be? As I've said time & again, sorry boys. Thunderstick is already taken...

Sincerely,
